Accordion Noir radio playlist 2012-03-28: Jenny Conlee of the Decemberists

For a long time, this blog would get two posts every week: one announcing that week’s new episode of CFRO Co-Op Radio’s weekly Accordion Noir broadcast, and another one announcing, for the benefit of those who missed it the first time around, the new online availability of the episode we had aired ten years previously.  Around February of 2012, however, we entered into a “dark ages” in our historical record, where recordings we thought had been filed and saved securely, we later learned… had not been.  In some cases we only have textual playlists describing the songs we had aired that week; in other cases we don’t even have that.  However, we didn’t lose all recordings for the rest of the year — rather, our historical record from that point on can be described as “patchy”.

One thing for sure, however, is that having fallen out of the habit of being able to reliably post the episode we’d aired ten years prior, where such specimens now exist it has been easy to overlook them and breeze past them without marking the occasion.  That would be a shame, because there’s still a lot that is golden and evergreen about these back recordings!  In this specimen from March of 2012, for instance, our 278th episode… Bruce enjoyed the opportunity to interview one of his squeezy heroes of the 21st-century accordion revival, Jenny Conlee of the Decemberists and Black Prairie.  Ordinarily we would have been hoping to have shared it with you over three months ago, but … better late than never!  You can enjoy listening to it as digital audio courtesy of the Internet Archive, heck, I’m going to air it as a repeat for our Apple and Google and RSS podcast subscribers… and here’s its playlist:
