Accordion Noir radio playlist 2012-11-21: Rowan at the Helm!

From ten years ago, here’s episode 312 of CFRO Co-Op Community Radio’s weekly hour-long Accordion Noir broadcast, squeezing the wildest alt-accordion musics from all around the globe out onto the airwaves.  Looking at the playlist and the episode title, I, your humble author [Rowan] must conclude that this was one of those weeks that, for whatever reason, the regular host Bruce was unavailable to hold down live on the air.  No worries, I didn’t live far from the station!  I had also run out of my personal stash of accordion music, but from the looks of things I leaned heavily on my wife’s iTunes library to provide the free reed tunes in this week’s broadcast.  If you missed it the first time around (or could simply benefit from a refresher), please feel welcome to enjoy listening to it again as digital audio courtesy of the Internet Archive.  Here’s its playlist:

* DeVotchKa – Contrabanda – 100 Lovers (2011) – Maybe “Earth,” maybe “Denver, Colorado, USA” –
* Andy Fielding – Acc Noir theme song
* P:ano – I Felt His Presents / Doing the Can Can
* Ewan MacColl And Peggy Seeger – Legal/Illegal – The Best of Broadside 1962-1988 [Disc 4] (1984) – –
* The Coup – We’ve Got A Lot To Teach You, Cassius Green – Sorry To Bother You (2012) – Oakland, California, USA – Robbie Levin, acc.
* The Tom Fun Orchestra – Lungs – Earthworm Heart (2012) – Cape Breton Island, Canada –
* Kate & Anna McGarrigle – Allez-Vous-En – The McGarrigle Hour (1998) – Quebec, Canada –
* Tanita Tikaram – It All Came Back Today
* Kim Barlow – Old Woman
* Paul Simon – That Was Your Mother
* Talking Heads – Mommy Daddy You And I
* Bruce Springsteen – Stolen Car #1
* Jodi Gilbert – Silcing Silence [Sinister Singing]
* The Decemberists – The Chimbley Sweep – Her Majesty The Decemberists (2003) – Portland, Oregon, USA –

Thanks for reading us here (and hopefully listening to us, there), but if you find you want more, you can always keep up with us on … well, we’re giving Twitter a break indefinitely in pursuit of sunnier pastures, such as Mastodon at and, Instagram (@AccordionNoirFest), and Facebook at Accordion Noir fansthe Accordion Noir Festival, and the Vancouver Squeezebox Circle. Cheers & squeeze on!
