Accordion Noir radio playlist 2024-06-05: Cycling and Squeezebox Season Opener!

June 7, 2024

Because every DJ lives, to some extent, in the world, every week’s episode of Accordion Noir tells you a bit about what is going on in its host’s life that week. One thing going on is klezmer music, which is directly portable to music radio! Also in Bruce’s present zeitgeist is cycling, which … is more challenging to find a musical setting for — but as the onetime music programmer for CiTR (and then CFRO)’s “Pedal Revolutionary” bicycle affairs program, I can testify that it’s not impossible! (The overlap of the sets of bicycle music and accordion music, however, may be too small a slice of the Venn diagram to hear.) And then of course sometimes the host makes his life the theme of the show’s title, but the actual theme (and hence, the life) remains totally indiscernible in the actual music selection. In any event, if your Apple or Android (or plain old RSS) podcast subscriptions (strongly recommended!) haven’t alerted you to availability of this week’s episode of Accordion Noir yet, you can enjoy listening to it as digital audio courtesy of the Internet Archive. Here’s its playlist

AccNoir–2024–06–04, Cycling and Squeezebox, Spring Season Opener!

In the Northern Hemisphere in this particular week the weather isn’t too bad here and we’re having a celebration of bikes in town. And we’re having a klezmer festival and I found a klezmer song that isn’t about bicycles at all, so feel free to laugh at me for that while riding your bike or playing your accordion outside maybe.
