Accordion Noir radio playlist 2023-04-26: Fund Drive on Through April

April 27, 2023

We weren’t able to cook up an entire episode of fellow traveller underdog instrument content for World Nyckleharpa Day, but last night’s episode of CFRO’s weekly Accordion Noir program kicks off with an acknowledgement of that august occasion, celebrated around the world. Also Harry Belafonte’s passing is marked with a great selection from his catalogue, one of our favorite songs to discuss squeezeboxes but not actually contain any on the recording. (Above you see him rocking out with Brazil’s accordion phenom Sivuca.) Otherwise it’s just our standard amazing mix of free reed music from all over the world, representing different traditions and encouraging you to buy a membership at our parent radio station CFRO and make a donation to keep this kind of essential yet eclectic programming possible. If your Apple or Android (or plain old RSS) podcast subscriptions (strongly recommended!) haven’t alerted you to the episode’s availability yet, you can enjoy listening to it as digital audio courtesy of the Internet Archive. Here’s its playlist:

Thanks for reading us here (and hopefully listening to us, there), but if you find you want more, you can always keep up with us on … well, we’re putting our Twitter on the back burner indefinitely in pursuit of sunnier pastures, such as Mastodon at and, Instagram (@AccordionNoirFest), and Facebook at Accordion Noir fansthe Accordion Noir Festival, and the Vancouver Squeezebox Circle.  Cheers & squeeze on!
