Accordion Noir radio playlist 2013-02-27: Celtic du Bois
It’s unclear what happened to episode 324 of our weekly all-accordion broadcast. Were we pre-empted or did we simply lose the recording for it? In our official accounting from ten years back, the episode the subject of today’s post is assigned number 325, suggesting that the latter may be the case. (The data rot must be extraordinarily heinous for us to not even have a list of the songs included in the episode! But a lot of things can happen to data over a ten year period.) All that aside, you can see that this archival episode of our program has a light focus on the year 2013’s offerings of squeezy performers from la Francophonie at Maillardville’s annual Festival du Bois. (The festival is still on this year, coming up next month from Mar 24-26, surely with some worthwhile accordion content!) What is the Celtic content telegraphed by the episode’s title? I think that was just Bruce messing with ya. Sorry, it’s just something he does! Regardless, I can see that it’s a great slate of songs and you don’t have to take my word for it — you can enjoy listening to the episode as digital audio courtesy of the Internet Archive. Or if you have excellent recall, perhaps simply reading the names of the included songs may trigger audio memories, so please find the playlist below:
