Ten years ago, Rowan’s (now rawther dormant) “jug band of the damned” the Creaking Planks celebrated the 8th anniversary of their first performance with a concert at the WISE Hall.  This episode, number 321, of our weekly hour-long alt-accordion music program … doesn’t particularly dwell on that occasion, but it does lean on it for its title, opening track, and that lovely leading image.  (Golly, we were young, once!)  If you missed out on it ten years ago, here you have another chance to enjoy listening to this episode, now as digital audio, courtesy of the Internet Archive.  Here’s its playlist:

AccNoir-2013-01-23, Happy 8th Creaking Plank-Day!

* Aldo Granato – La Noche – La Noche (2006) – Belgium
* Creaking Planks – Numbers and Names – TBA: VIVO Sessions (2008) – Vancouver, BC, Canada – Unreleased tracks, from upcoming album?  [I’m pretty sure this is just the version that wound up on our “Flogged ‘Round The Fleet” album.  The song was written by friend-of-the-Planks Jacob Steele and remains a hallmark of silly blues.]

Thanks for reading us here (and hopefully listening to us, there), but if you find you want more, you can always keep up with us on … well, we’re putting our Twitter on the back burner indefinitely in pursuit of sunnier pastures, such as Mastodon at and, Instagram (@AccordionNoirFest), and Facebook at Accordion Noir fansthe Accordion Noir Festival, and the Vancouver Squeezebox Circle.  Cheers & squeeze on!
