Accordion Noir radio playlist 2011-11-23: Where was Bobby Dylan When We Needed Him?

From ten years ago, here’s episode 260 of CFRO Co-Op Community Radio’s weekly hour-long Accordion Noir radio broadcast.  I don’t see the matter investigated in any great detail in the playlist, but Bruce loves to speculate over how Bob Dylan, who was surely awash in accordion music in his childhood, threw it under the bus by allowing it to be omitted from the folk revival movement (Garth Hudson did what he could to stem the loss, but the damage was done.)  That explains the episode’s nominal theme, but from the looks of things it’s “just” another great mix of squeezy tunes in disparate styles from all over the planet.  At its original online home this episode logged some 6085 listens, and you can continue enjoying it as streaming audio today courtesy of the Internet Archive.  Here’s its playlist:

Tonight’s cover illustration is: Maray Fuego, looking to me a lot like Bobby Dylan if he’d stayed true to his Minnesota accordion roots. Awesome painting by Trevor Long:

Please, support Accordion Noir and Co-op Radio (without whom there wouldn’t be an Accordion Noir), by becoming a member. Go to or and donate online. We really especially supporters who’ve become “sustaining” donors by arranging to donate a little bit every month. Those add up to a lot of support over the year. We love that most of all.

When you’re able to donate, please do add a comment that, “Accordion Noir sent me!” Then we know who loves squeezing.

Thanks much,

Bruce and Rowan
