Accordion Noir radio playlist 2021-11-10: “Noir Al” Yankovic (episode 2)

Second of our three-episode (part 1, part 3) exploration into books and podcasts where all they do is talk about Weird Al.
Last week, Bruce got around to hosting a belated birthday celebration for the man who singlehandedly kept the accordion flame burning in the mainstream music industry through the 1980s and ’90s, the celebrated parodist known as “Weird Al” Yankovic. He conducted a number of interviews with authors of recent books examining his career and legacy, ultimately getting a chance to enjoy a chat with the weird one himself, and, well, he found that he had enough material for more than one episode. So here we are sharing further deep cuts from Al’s illustrious life! On this episode he digs deep with Al’s drummer, Jon “Bermuda” Schwartz, who has recently published the “Black & White & Weird All Over” photo-book of candid backstage snapshots from the band’s early years, and the hosts of the “Beer’d Al” and “2000” Weird Al” podcasts. If your Apple or Android podcast subscriptions (strongly recommended!) haven’t alerted you to the episode’s availability yet, you can enjoy it as streaming audio courtesy of the Internet Archive.
