Accordion Noir radio playlist 2021-04-21: Omnichord Noir Fundraiser with Jenny Omnichord!
In our early years we did these religiously — during the member drives of our parent radio station, CFRO Community Radio, we’d toss a bone to other neglected “underdog” instruments and devote an entire hour (or more!) to “variety spice” axes that didn’t happen to enjoy the support of a weekly radio program dedicated to their art. Building bridges at the bottom of the ladder! We featured radio specials on such “obvious” offbeat instruments as “Ukulele Noir“, “Baritone Saxophone Noir“, “Jaw Harp Noir“, “Theremin Noir“, “Banjo Noir“, “Hurdy Gurdy Noir” and more (the “Tuba Noir” and “Bagpipes Noir” seemingly tragically lost to the vagaries of time) … but of course no matter how deep you dig, there is always an instrument more niche waiting for you to shine some light on.
Which brings us to last night’s episode, an extraordinary two-hour visit to a musically rich realm with a champion all its own: join our host Bruce Triggs in interview with the devoted expert Jenny Omnichord for a wild visit to the ethereal realm of … Omnichord Noir! If your Apple or Android podcast subscriptions (strongly recommended!) haven’t alerted you to its availability yet, you can listen to it as digital audio courtesy of the Internet Archive. (And when you’re done listening to it, enjoy the marshy sounds of a Saturna Island bog the rest of this Earth Day via http://wetlandproject.com/ !) Here’s its playlist:

It’s possible I’ll be posting more from the Jenny Omnichord interview and a few more songs in the next week or so. That will be included in a future post here on AccordionUprising.org
If we make the goal of raising $500 (or more) during this week’s fund-drive I will definitely post a polished version on that extra episode.
Thanks for reading us here (and hopefully listening to us, there), but if you find you want more, you can always keep up with us on Twitter (@AccordionNoir and @AccordionBruce), Instagram (@AccordionNoirFest), and Facebook at Accordion Noir fans, the Accordion Noir Festival, and the Vancouver Squeezebox Circle. Cheers & squeeze on!
