Accordion Noir radio playlist 2021-03-03: BandcampTown
Last night, Bruce once again took inspiration from the fact that the music e-storefront Bandcamp is continuing to waive its fees the first Friday of every month, allowing one place online where musicians receive the lion’s share of what people spend in order to appreciate their music. This of course applies to accordionists as well as anyone else! (Meanwhile we are giving it away over the radio, but the idea is that if you like the samples we provide, you go buy some more of it.) If you don’t feel like conducting the exploration needed to reveal which squeezers there are deserving of your support, Bruce has already done the work for you. If your Apple or Android podcast subscriptions (strongly recommended!) haven’t alerted you to this episode’s availability yet, you can listen to it as digital audio courtesy of the Internet Archive! Here’s its playlist:

Also he has a message and a deal to share from our friend Renée de la Prade of the Accordion Babes Pinup Calendar:
“For few more days, we’re selling a package deal with a copy of the 2021 Accordion Babes Pin-Up Calendar; plus a copy of the book Accordion Revolution: A People’s History of the Accordion in North America from the Industrial Revolution to the Age of Rock ‘n Roll. Meet some of the artists who popularized the instrument. A pair of them, Lena and Josephine Bergamasco, are represented in the 2021 Accordion Babes Pin-Up Calendar with a 100-year-old sexy Accordion Babe photo. Bruce’s writing style is informative but not dry; he is a convivial host on Vancouver’s Accordion Noir Radio Show whose accordion knowledge is second to none. The book is arranged in a bunch of bite-sized stories which take you through the accordion’s rich history; and is guaranteed to inform even the nerdiest of accordion lovers.”
