As you may have heard, there’s a new emoji in town ๐ช!
(How to Successfully Create an #AccordionEmoji.)
The announcement of an Accordion Emoji ๐ช, to be released over the course of 2020, raised a flurry of responses. My Accordion Noir co-host Rowan and I combed #AccordionTwitter (as usual) to document this cultural event.
The #AccordionEmoji met a long-felt need ๐ข
There was even a request the day before it was “announced” ๐ค
Then came the announcement ๐ข
“Weird” Al voiced his support ๐๐ผ
Billboard boosted the story, and many, many click-bait sources copied their tweet ๐
Al’s Fans Were Overcome ๐๐ผ
#AccordionTwitter Blew Up ๐ฅ
There were doubters, but demands for an Accordion Emoji were included in the original proposal ๐
There were questions about the Emoji process ๐ค
