OK, we haven’t exactly been in lockstep with our archival recordings from ten years back, but we need to put in the effort to be deviating from it by no more than one month.  And so here, for no particular reason, today we share Accordion Noir radio episode number 117 from way back on February 27th of 2009, presumably for late-Valentine’s reasons, when we had on as live guests the then-recent MySpace finds Gypsie et la Fleur, the presumably longago-disbanded duo of Mike Bell and Elyse Jacobson playing romantic music.  At its original online home this episode was enjoyed some 10331 times, and you can of course keep right on enjoying it courtesy of the Internet Archive, where we hope the recordings of back episodes keep up residence indefinitely.  (Cough cough, MySpace, cough Flickr, cough.)  Here’s its playlist:

Accordion Noir: Playlist: February 27th, 2009, Gypsie et la Fleur, live!

This week’s guests Gypsie et la Fleur are also in Vancouver, and available for gigs, Venetian gondola serenades, fabulous rooftop garden-parties, and other romantic events of your invention. Contact them up!

Playlist:
Artist — Song – (sorry for the lack of documentation this episode.)

* Mirah – Light the Match
* Jacobson/Milojevic/Ip – Tango (“Whistler’s Spirit.”)
* Gypsie et la Fleur (live!) – Libertango (Piazzolla)
* Gotan Project – Una Musica Brutal
* Kiran Ahluwalia – Saaqiya (Tae Wine Bearer)
* Gypsie et la Fleur – Blow
* Tango Paradiso (composed by Budge Schacte) – Tango de Gaia
* Quartango (composed by Julien Plata) – Nocturna

This episode’s cover is Elise and Mike being silly – who’s the Gypsie and who’s la Fleur?
