Accordion Noir radio playlist 2009-02-20: Mardi Gras!

March 4, 2019

From ten and a bit years ago, here’s another time-shifted archival episode of Accordion Noir Radio, episode number 116 from way back in February of 2009.  Some holidays happen at the same time every year and others are pegged to a shifting lunar calendar, so on a year to year basis their dates might be wildly at variance.  So it is with the Jewish calendar and consequently Easter and a lot of the feast days leading up to it.  (Here in 2019, Mardi Gras takes place tomorrow, March 5th.)  Anyhow, in 2009 we used this occasion as a good excuse to air some Cajun, Creole and Zydeco music from and inspired by the swamp sounds of Louisiana.  At its original online home it racked up some 11065 listens, and today you can continue enjoying it as digital audio via the Internet Archive.  Laissez les bon temps rouler!  And now, here’s its playlist:

Thanks to Robert, our London correspondent who not only noticed that we’d lost a chunk of the Women’s Day episode, but entirely forgotten to post this Mardi Gras one! No excuses. Thanks to Robert! You get some prize if you want one, for sure.
