Accordion Noir radio playlist 2018-08-22: Bruce’s Dad’s birthday

crowd surf

Here it is, last night’s episode of Accordion Noir Radio!  He likes to go on Twitter and give musicians a heads-up that he plans to air their songs.  “Hopefully I’ll be playing song x tonight!” he tells them, as though the matter wasn’t completely in his hands.  (Well, maybe not.  I had a friend who would never confirm attendance to Facebook events, as they could not guarantee that they wouldn’t, for example, get hit by a car en route and be unable to actually attend.  But I digress.)  Does his father love the accordion?  Perhaps, perhaps not — maybe Bruce’s squeezebox awakening is rediscovering the ways of his people through deep family tradition… or perhaps the opposite, a rebellious lashing out where it hurts the most — the ears.  (But again, I digress.  Is it even possible to digress if you in fact have no point you’re working toward?  Perhaps.  I conduct inquiry into this vital matter every day.)  Why am I talking about Bruce’s father?  Because he has dedicated the episode on the occasion of his dad’s birthday.  If his father loves accordion, we hope that he enjoyed it.  If his father is … the other way … well, we still hope he had an awakening of his own and found a way to appreciate the music regardless.  Something we sometimes catch on Twitter is multiple individuals privately reporting on the same (subway, birthday party, televised talent show) accordion performance simultaneously, one loving it and the other hating it.  The music simply is what it is, man — you bring the love and hate along with yourself!  If you have the choice — bring love!

… OK!  Some episode blurbs are more stream-of-consciousness than others!  If after all that you, also, would like to hear last night’s episode (perhaps it was your father’s birthday, also?), please proceed over to the Internet Archive and get your fill!  Here is its playlist:
