2018-06-17: free Accordion Noir stage at Car-Free Main Street festival!
June 6, 2018
Following up on our success at last year’s Car Free Main festival, we’ve been invited back to present another free outdoor Accordion Noir stage (rain or shine) for the entire duration of the fest, from noon through to 7 pm, Sunday, June 17.
Things kick off with quick half-hour sets from Jordan Rody (Alberta’s hardest working twentysomething in polka) and Joana Reis from Portugal, then keep checking in for 45-minute-long sets on the hour, starting with the theatrical folk music of Alison Jenkins at 1pm, Portuguese fado from Basilissa at 2, a set by Doracito Prieto at 3, our own Squeezebox Circle Orchestra at 4 pm, some musical whimsy from Teapot in the Tuba starting at 5, and Colombian cumbia from Breaking Boundaries (pictured) headlining from 6 pm until the end!
Don’t miss it! Vancouver won’t have an accordion menu like this to sample from again … until #NoirFestXI in September!
