Accordion Noir radio playlist 2017-09-20: Introducing the Swamp Rabbit Squeezebox Festival!

September 21, 2017

21055016_10105637584462467_5647969804511822654_o.jpgSummer is festival season and early Autumn is, apparently, accordion festival season.  Was it three weeks ago we were promoting the Port Townsend Deep Squeeze?  The following week of course it was all about our 10th annual Accordion Noir Festival, then the Wayward Hearts distracted us just long enough to miss profiling this year’s Edmonton Accordion Extravaganza (but it’s on our radar!) which brings us to this week.  Bruce suggested we do an episode looking back at ten years of our festival (then another episode looking forward to its next ten years!) but I said… Bruce, we can’t do that yet, this is our last chance to promote the first annual Swamp Rabbit Squeezebox Festival in Greenville, South Carolina!

I know, South Carolina is a little bit beyond our typical domain of Western Canada (and the Pacific Northwest / Lower Mainland area around Vancouver, more specifically) but we had an extraordinary connection to this festival — its producer TC Costello had been directly inspired by our broadcasts and news of our noir festivals over here to try to follow in our footsteps (as evidenced by the odd concentration of Vancouver-based acts and Acc Noir Fest alumni on their crowdfunding benefit compilation), as we in turn echoed the exciting events in Cotati, and establish another alt-accordion festival deep in the heart of anglo North America, where such (awesome) things are few and far between. Anyhow, it’s on this weekend, and we wish success to all such ventures — so to all our listeners in South Carolina, or anyone who has friends there… please consider sending it some love and checking out the fest!

You can hear representative songs from its main featured performers on this week’s episode of Accordion Noir Radio, as a digital audio stream or an MP3 download you can keep forever. Here’s its playlist:
