Accordion Noir Radio playlist 2007-09-14: Weird Al!

September 13, 2017

One festival later, it’s time to liberate another recording from the Accordion Noir Classic vaults!  This here is Accordion Noir Radio episode number 41 from way back on September 14th of 2007, when, apparently, white & nerdy accordion luminary “Weird Al” Yankovic was playing a show in town.  (But Bruce felt that a thumbnail of the closing number, some Korean “trot” performance, would really pull in the listeners instead.)  At its original online home the episode racked up a total of 4685 views, and hopefully it will accumulate a whole lot more at its new, forever home!  And here, we provide a comprehensive playlist so as to better allow you to appreciate what you’re hearing in the period recording:

Rowan got busted by the cops for busking on the way to the show and we forgot to mention it! [Ed: No busking permit is required to busk along Robson Street on the block housing the art gallery.  The policeman, however, chose to be difficult and deliberately misinterpret our location on the corner of that block as being on the block perpendicular.  That spontaneous jam with friendly strangers — anything is possible when walking down the street with an accordion on your back — was my memorable introduction to Toast Collective booker Caitlin Gilroy and longtime CFRO technical magager Anju Singh!] Also, Bruce is coming down with a cold live on the air!
