Accordion Noir Radio playlist 2017-07-05: Splendid Summertime Strangeness

July 17, 2017

Circumstances demanded Bruce temporarily leave his weekly post two weeks ago, which was really no trouble at all — our program is required to have two certified programmer-operators for this reason, and Rowan got a chance to emerge from behind the anonymizing social media accounts of the accordion renaissance and head to the forefront of the squeezebox revolutionary vanguard with his voice going out over the airwaves.  The only problem is that Bruce is the one with the accordion music collection, so typically Rowan has to ask Bruce nicely to send him some songs to play that week and hopefully between those selections and whatever he’s been able to scrap together on his own he’s able to get a respectable playlist together.  I’m not sure that “respectable” is actually the right word for this particular playlist, but it’s a lot of fun.  You can enjoy it as a digital audio stream, or you can download it for keeps as an MP3.  To help home listeners play along, here’s the playlist of the songs aired:

Fran Jeffries – Meglio Stasera (from the Pink Panther, 1963)
Creaking Planks – Accordion Noir theme
Vladimirska – The Uninvited Guest
Miles and Karina – Witch Conjure
Elfin Saddle – Muskeg Parade
Yeti – Bonne Humeur
The Jerry Cans – Ahead by a Century (after the Tragically Hip)
Montreal Guitar Orchestra – The Good, The Bad and the Ugly theme
Geoff Berner – Thank You, No Thank You
Jo Carol Pierce – Borderline Tango
Alicia Baker – Shake It Off (apres Taylor Swift)
Despacito – Mulett ft. Lina Quintero
Timur and the Dime Museum – Life On Mars (after David Bowie)
Will Holshouser Trio – Sparkle of Never

Thanks for reading us here (and hopefully listening to us, there), but if you find you want more, you can always keep up with us on Twitter (@AccordionNoir and @AccordionBruce), Instagram (@AccordionNoirFest), and Facebook at Accordion Noir fans, the Accordion Noir Festival, and the Vancouver Squeezebox Circle. Cheers & squeeze on!
