Accordion Noir radio playlist 2007-07-13: Folk Fest Preview
Rejoice, friends! For here it is: Accordion Noir Radio episode number 33, from way back on July 13th of the year 2007, ten years back! Even back then we realised that we had much to gain by gleaning wisdom into world accordion traditions from our local world-class folk music festival — which has done so much to deliver unique accordionists from far-flung climes who’d ordinarily never be in Canada, let alone Vancouver, and began interviewing performers with less accent on their current tours and recordings and more of an eye to learning of the past and present details regarding their local accordion scenes. Of course, we’re still at it. Bruce will be interviewing accordionists this coming weekend at the VFMF and likely this week we’ll be airing a preview of the 2017 festival. But if you want to know what was upcoming in the 2007 instalment of the festival… listen on!
It was a popular topic, originally enjoyed at its original online home some 4641 times… from now on you can enjoy it at the Internet Archive and we do hope that you take us up on the opportunity! It may not be timely any longer but all the same… we feel the topic, overall, is perennial! Here, enjoy the episode’s playlist:
