Accordion Noir stage at Car-Free Main Street, Sunday June 18

June 7, 2017

The 2017 Car-Free Main Street day invited us to program an alt-accordion stage for this year’s street festival and by gum, we have done so! From the fest’s start to finish, beginning at noon and ending at 7 pm, under a tent at the west side of the intersection of 21st Avenue and Main Street, we will be dishing up some of the noir-est squeezing Vancouver has to offer!

Participating performers include:

* 12:00-12:30 (30 mins) Robyn Carrigan, Gaelic ambassador from Melodeonic climes,
* 12:45-1:15 (30 mins) Ana Bon-Bon, gospel-blues muse,
* 1:30-2:00 (30 mins) Der Royshiker Krokves, klezmorim of mystery,
* 2:15-2:45 (30 mins) Katheryn Petersen, Artistic Director of the Accordion Noir Society,
* 3-3:45 (45 mins) The one and only Vancouver Squeezebox Circle Orchestra,
* 4:00-5:00 (1 hr) a rare set by the Creaking Planks, jug band of the damned,
* 5:15-5:45 (30 mins) Barbara Adler of Sawdust Collector…
* 6-7 pm (1 hr) … all culminating in an hourlong performance by “whiskey rabbi” Geoff Berner and his fabulous band!

All that and … who knows, anything is possible — there are many opportunities for surprises to squeeze in over seven hours!

The performances are free but if you insist on tipping our performers with donations… we won’t stand in your way.  Also do please be sure to check out our stage’s info (and merchandise!) table hosted by Spartacus Books, home to our monthly Vancouver Squeezebox Circle!
