Accordion Noir radio playlist 2007-03-30 : Echoes of memory

May 1, 2017

Yeah, I never really got what that 2001 comic strip was about either (I mean, one accordionist delivers the punchline, but what’s the second one doing?  Well, he gives us our echo of memory!), but it sure has proven to be a persistent, pervasive sucker!  This posting enshrines our Accordion Noir Radio episode number 17 from back at the end of March in 2007 — in the middle of the night.  Like the comic strip, it’s proven to be a popular episode, clocking some 15145 listens at its original home (some of which were even by humans!) … you can enjoy it there for the time being, or as an mp3 download at its new and permanent online host at the Internet Archive.  To help keep you on your toes, we provide the fragmentary notes resulting from two sleep-deprived men trying to decipher each others’ unreadable chicken-scratch (incidentally, a genre of Tohono O’odham accordion music) handwriting of shorthand notes about which track on which CD we aired.  They’re practically useless, we concede, but they at least do signpost for you which artist you’re listening to, if not which song from which album.  (It’s funny; eventually Bruce automated playlist generation to not only spit out the track, artist and album, but also their country and website, erring on the side of too much information… but evidently not so on this occasion!)  In any case, enjoy as best as you can — the recording is still solid gold!
