Polka: Roots of Mexican Accordion playing in South Texas and North Mexico

Just found this online.  Great documentary with interviews about the history of accordion in the Mexico/US border region.

I’ve never heard of this before, it was filmed in 1986 by Robert Boonzajer Flaes & Maarten Rens

They were connected with the University of Amsterdam. Were they students? Sponsored by the University?

I like the line in the credits: “This film can be copied free of charge for the Chicanos of San Antonio, Texas.”

    This film is great, thanks for posting! I got to know it years ago in a course during my university studies.
