Classical Accordionist Joseph Macerollo receives Order of Canada award

Hey, check it out, Canadian classical accordion icon Joseph Macerollo is getting the Order of Canada!

That’s pretty cool, how many accordionists get their country’s second highest honour?  I believe Minnie White, the great folk-player from Newfoundland got one back in 1993, so who’s next in 2023?

Congrats to Mr. Macerollo for sure.

Here he is talking about accordions in a swell interview video.  I like the cool old instruments they show in there.  Note also Joe’s free-bass system with all the single notes up above the standard stradella buttons.  Gotta have long fingers to play up there.:

By the way, you classical-accordion fans are getting ready for the Coupe Mundiale in Victoria, BC in August, right?
