There’s a cool piece of sheet music. Ellington for accordion, from 1927!

I’m reading Marion Jacobson’s Squeeze This! and it’s got me checking Anthony Galla-Rini‘s history.  He was a big classical-music pusher, including:

Black and Tan Fantasy, piano accordion solo sheet music

Miley, Bub & Duke Ellington, transcribed by Galla-Rini

Book Description: NY Mills Music (1927)., 1927. VG PB sheet music. Illustration of man playing accordion on cover with photo inset of Galla-Rini. Local music store stamp bottom ft cover. Illustrated by Photo of Galla-Rini cover.

  • Bookseller: Crabtree’s Collection Old Books (Sebago, ME, U.S.A.
  • Price: US$ 15.00

Too bad there’s not a cool cover-picture of Duke Ellington laying in with Galla-Rini on the accordion.  Ellington did record with accordionist Cornell Smelser, but I don’t know how often he played with one otherwise.
