Accordion Noir radio playlist 2011-02-16: Number one with a bullet!

Way back from ten years ago (this page was made ten years ago, wow!, I’m just updating it here to give it a little more limelight a decade on), here’s episode 218 of Accordion Noir radio, where we were positively lit on the realization that the Decemberists’ 2011 album The King Is Dead, complete with a pile of accordion courtesy of Jenny Conlee (above), had hit number one on the Billboard charts — a rare achievement for an accordion album, not known since (we figured) Will Glahe’s recording of the Beer Barrel Polka charted number one in June of 1939 seventy-two years prior.  At its original online home, this episode logged some 5970 listens, but you can continue enjoying listening to it today courtesy of the Internet Archive.  Here’s its playlist:
